Term 1 Interschool Sport
The last two weeks have seen some awesome efforts by our interschool sport teams. On Friday the 6th of March our Year 11 and 12 teams competed in volleyball, cricket and tennis. All students represented the College extremely well and demonstrated teamwork, determination and great sportspersonship.
In the best volleyball game I’ve seen at the Geelong Interschool level our senior boys triumphed against a quality North Geelong team in a tight 3 set final. After surviving two match points the team displayed great resilience to win 14-12 in the decider. Our senior girls’ volleyball were unlucky to go down in the final, also against North Geelong- and finished runner-up in their competition. The boys’ cricket team won one game and lost one game against some good opposition.
On Friday the 13th our Year 9 & 10 teams competed in tennis, volleyball, softball and baseball. All teams were very competitive and all displayed enough talent to win multiple games. Our tennis team played off in their division final and boys’ baseball won their first game only to go down in a tight game against Belmont and miss out on the finals on run difference.
Our girls’ volleyball team went through the day undefeated and, like the senior boys, were able to win a very tight final against North Geelong in a three set epic. Our boys’ team had a lapse in one game that cost them a spot in the finals but demonstrated they were good enough to mix it with the best teams.
Overall it has been a very successful start to the year with three teams progressing to the Western Metro Stage.
